Welcome to the L.O.S. Young Birders' Club website which is part of Leigh Ornithological Society (L.O.S.).  Here you'll find lots of fun stuff to learn and do all about birds, wildlife and nature in general.

You can send in your bird and nature photos and artwork for the galleries and find out how to make bird feeders out of recycled materials.  Perhaps you'd like to write an article for this website, if so we'd love to hear from you.

On this website you'll discover some good places to go to see birds locally in their natural habitat and maybe you'll join us on a Sunday morning at Pennington Flash for a trip round the bird hides there.

If you'd like to write a short article or news item for this website we'd be very glad to hear from you.  

Perhaps it could be an account of a morning's birdwatching in your back garden or at Pennington Flash or even a special bird you've seen somewhere on holiday.

Anything related to birds or nature in the Leigh, Wigan and Bolton areas would be very welcome.

All you need to do is type your article into a computer and e-mail it to leighos.webmaster@gmail.com together with your name and age and we'll publish here for everyone in the world to read!

We can't wait to hear from you, so get those fingers typing!

Design a L.O.S. YBC Logo Competition

We'd like an attractive new logo designing for the L.O.S. Young Birders' Club (YBC).  The logo needs to be 4cm x 4cm in size and should have a birding theme.

If you'd like to have a go, please send a photograph or scan of your design along with your name and contact details to:

The winning design will be used at the top of our website and for all our communications and the lucky winner will also receive a bird feeder and some bird food to put in their school or garden.

The closing date has yet to be decided, but you can bring your designs on paper to the next L.O.S. YBC event at Pennington Flash on Sunday 31st March 2013.
